The Portland Kids Project is a spinoff of the We Are Portland Public project and the PBIS ticket system that reinforces positive (safe, respectful, and responsible) behavior in schools. The Portland Kids buttons reinforce student qualities that include: Bravery, Kindness, Perseverance, Problem Solving, Independence, and Curiosity.


We Are Portland Public

The “We Are Portland Public” poster was developed to create a sense of unity within the 17 different schools in the Portland (ME) Public Schools system.


Longfellow Kids

Longfellow Kids was a painting project that celebrated each student as individuals with unique personalities and interests. The project culminated in a collage for Longfellow PTO Auction and each painting was given to its corresponding student at the end of the year.


SchoolSquare

SchoolSquare was a school-based technology startup that integrated parents and community members with teachers and students to help connect learning with the real-world. www.schoolsquare.com


School Lunch Revolution is a picture book who’s main character, Wylie, starts a school garden because he is sick and tired of eating greasy grease burgers at school.


Rosemont Mural Project

Rosemont Mural Project is an ongoing art project that provides Portland students an opportunity to create murals for the 3 Rosemont market stores in Portland.


Lyseth’s Shine Sign

The Lyseth “Shine” Sign was made to accompany Lyseth’s school song “Lyseth is the place we shine!” written my music teacher John Raymond. The “Shine” sign was made by a small group of Lyseth students. It is made of used CDs.


Portland Kids Carpentry Project

Portland Public School students learned carpentry skills while building Little Free Libraries for their communities.

Longfellow School’s Front Hallway Project

Longfellow’s School’s front hallway was renovated and looked sterile and uninviting. I made small paintings of each staff member and assembled them in colorful frames with the aim to create a more welcoming and unique space.
